TNVR Program – Merced SPCA

Merced SPCA has volunteer colony caretakers and feeders who provide ongoing care for over 60+ stray cat colonies in Merced. They monitor, feed, and love these community cats, ensuring their health and wellbeing.

Important: This program is only for stray community cats. If you need your pet spayed or neutered, please sign up for our low-cost clinic through our website.

What Happens in TNVR?

Our Merced SPCA FREE TNVR Program ensures that every community cat is happy, healthy, and safe! Every cat that goes through TNVR receives:

  • Combo testing for common feline diseases.

  • Spay or neuter surgery to prevent unwanted litters.

  • All vaccinations, including FELV.

  • Microchipping and documentation with a photo to ensure each cat’s safety.

Why TNVR Matters

TNVR is humane, kind and successful! Benefits include:

  • Controlling overpopulation of stray cats.

  • Reducing the spread of disease.

  • Improving the quality of life for community cats.

  • Reducing nuisance behaviors like fighting, yowling, and marking.

By participating in TNVR, you’re helping the cats and your community.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Never release kittens under 8 weeks without vet guidance.

  • Handle cats gently to reduce stress and injury.

  • Mark sterilized cats with ear-tipping or other humane methods for easy identification.

  • Keep cats monitored after release for health issues or complications.
